Lake Iseo and Franciacorta
Just a few kilometers from Zone stretches Lake Iseo. A lake with a thousand faces, truly different from the others: too small to be large, too big to be small, simple and picturesque, gentle and wild. A romantic lake, dear to poets and painters, nestled in a splendid frame of mountains. The charm of its waters and the variety of plant species that surround it create a landscape that changes like a play of light and colors.
The climate is mild, and during the summer it is crossed by constant breezes; even in autumn and winter, sunny days are numerous.
Lake Iseo offers itself as a destination for very pleasant excursions aboard boats, under the sign of discovering a nature truly to be admired.
At the center rises Monte Isola, the name itself says it is both an island and a mountain, but it does not say that it is the largest lake island in Europe — a fishermen’s island, full of olive trees and somewhat out of the world, where the ancient art of drying fish in the sun has not been lost, and where fishing nets and custom wooden boats are still handcrafted in small boatyards.
To the north and south, the two small islets of Loreto and San Paolo act as sentinels. The lakeside towns are beautiful to see and explore, rich in memories of a glorious past and deep-rooted traditions: it is pleasant to stroll through the narrow streets of the historic centers with their medieval appearance. Not very trendy, as they say, but of rare beauty.
